Control valves are fitted on each pipe, which enables to use one pipe at a time for experiment. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifuge pump etc. Flow control valve and by-pass valve are fined in water line to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Flow rate of water is measured with the help of measuring tank and stop watch.

Helical coils are used for heating or cooling in process tanks. When a fluid flow through a curved tube, centrifugal force acting upon the various elements of fluid moving with different velocities causes secondary circulation. Secondary flow results in higher heat transfer characteristics. Further secondary flow stabilizes the laminar flow leading of a higher critical Reynolds number for transition from laminar to turbulent flow.

The unit consists of a Submersible pump provided with constant speed motor. The pump will be provided with a pressure gauge on discharge side pipe. The pump will be submerged in water to about 1.5 to 2 feet so as to cover the suction side. A gate valve is provided at the discharge which facilitates estimation of pump performance at various discharge heads. Power input to motor is measure with energy meter.

The hydraulic flume should be of size 150mm depth x 250mm wide x 4 meter length built with extra strong 75mm x 50mm. Thickness 4mm through. MS channel b for strength and rigidity. Both vertical sides provided with transparent thick 6mm Perspex for flow visualization at least for 4 meter length. The 16 gauge M.S. Sheet nearly fixed to MS angle frame with rubber packing.The upstream and downstream sections provided with two numbers of fine gates with rack (GM) pinion arrangement for accurate and smooth operation to facilitate the varying the discharge and head water. The sides provided with inverted Tee section (MS) for smooth running of movable hook gauge trolley. The tilting arrangement provided with a fine arrangement which can be operated very smoothly. The slope of the flume ranges up to +5 degree. The tilting arrangement operated by both forward and backward slope settings. For hydraulic different types of experiments the accessories should be incorporated like
